Deeping Shotokan Karate Club is open to all ages 5 and up. Men, women and kids are all very welcome. We run special children’s karate lessons.
Beginners can come for 4 sessions for just £12 – so why not give Karate a try?
Our Senior Instructor is Sensei Martin Gadd. Martin has trained and graded with Sensei Iain Abernethy, 6th Dan and also with Sensei R.G. Reid 5th Dan. Martin holds the rank of 4th Dan with the Amateur Martial Association and has been involved in karate for 28 years.
Our instructors have also trained frequently with Iain Abernethy 6th Dan, Geoff Thompson 7th Dan and Peter Consterdine 9th Dan as well as many other more ‘traditional’ world-renowned karate instructors such as Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa and Hanshi Shiro Asano. The club promotes the practice of realistic self protection and fitness – we are not really interested in the competition side of karate.
Our instructors have also trained in other martial arts including Judo, Kenpo Karate, Dacayana Escrima, Wado Ryu and Kyokushinkai. We regularly invite instructors from other styles and arts to visit and teach at the club.
We have full DBS checks, full insurance, recognised coaching qualifications and a strict anti-bullying policy, an equal opportunities policy and child protection policy. All our policies are available for you to view if you so wish.
Deeping Shotokan Karate Club is a not-for-profit club and have no compulsory courses or hidden ‘extra’ fees other than those to maintain the club, venue hire, club equipment, instructor and membership and insurance costs, national association membership of the Amateur Martial Association (A.M.A.) and legal backing.
